I usually send a message to the person whenever I make a request. I don't add friends too often because I'm trying to keep it manageable. Maybe they have more people than they can pay attention to.

Creepy Facebook friend requests but no message or even just a hello
by yadda yadda 2 indoes anyone else think its a bit rude and creepy for people from your way distant past or having only the tenuous of social connection with you to request being your friend on facebook but then totally ignore you, not even say a simple hello?.
this annoys me and i have a policy of deleting them after a month if they don't make communicative contact because by not even sending a message to say "hi, how are ya after all these years" they are not being friendly just apparently nosey bastards who wanna see my photos and what i've been up to in my life and then basically ignore me.
ive had this experience with a lot of jw's from my past.

- mathew 12:38. .
the governing body went out and took counsel against him that they might destroy him.

According to the GB the second coming already happened in 1914. That was about 100 years ago so a better question would be: So what has he been doing since he came back in secret? Another question would be if he returned in 1914 then why do they still pass the crackers and wine once a year since Jesus said to do this till I return.

It's just the way people in cults view those who leave the cult. It doesn't matter if you're a Mormon or a JW or whatever, they all think someone who leaves them must be posessed by demons or crazy but we all know who the real crazy one are.
If you are not sure try this: Check to see what kind of underwear you are wearing. Did you by at a department store or did you buy it through your church? Is having a cup of coffee, coke or a beer just something you do or don't do or is it a religious issue to you?
This past Saturday did you play golf, go to the beach, go out for breakfast ? Or go through your neighborhood in 90 degree weather peddling religious magazines in a business suit?

I don't know if there was any one event but I do think the time period they started in had a lot to do with it. The 19th century was furtile soil for religious cults. Mormons, Adventist, Christian Scientist all came out of that time period. I think it would be harder for any of them to get started and have significant growth in our era.

"Jehovah's organization provides the best education..."
by Gothicus indoesn't it just irritate you to the highest degree when someone makes a remark as stupid as this?
since when did "jehovah's education" ever taught you anything significant other than to be a tool and a slave for the wtb$?.

If anyone believe this then next time they need to see a doctor they should call Watchtower Society and ask them to recommend someone they can see that didn't go to medical school but instead learned their doctoring through the Watchtower Society. Witnesses spend their whole lives benefiting from the education of those who weren't Watchtower educated but instead got a real education.

Introducing Mrs Cedars...
by cedars ini just thought you should know that mrs cedars has finally taken the plunge and joined the forum.
she was able to log on for the first time yesterday.. though we both "awakened" at different stages, mrs cedars was very supportive and non-judgmental when i first began exploring my beliefs from a critical standpoint.
she is currently in the process of reading crisis of conscience and aquainting herself with some of the facts of witness history that were hitherto unknown.

Lack of reading material provided by the Watchtower
by baltar447 inok, so sseveninches made this comment on another thread got me thinking:.
concerning reading books (life is to short): i read many 'secular' books, and my sister reads even more than i do.
we're very open about it - in our house we have a giant bookshelf of books we've read, textbooks, and some movies.

I don't think that there is a lack of reading material in the Watchtower its just that most of what they have written is a bunch of crap. Even the Watchtower knows that most of their publications are a bunch of crap. Why else would they only want you to read their latest works? Which are soon to be outdated pieces of crap not even fit for JWs to read. There were many great works of literature that came out of the 19th and 20th century but not even one came from the Watchtower Society.
In the congregations I went to reading outside of WT publications was frowned upon. Being unread was consider somewhat of a triumph. Most of the JWs I knew never read anything if it wasn't printed by the WT except maybe a newspaper. You never heard a converstation at the back of the KH about so and so latest book.

For posters who are vegans or vegetarians- do you feel healthier then you did on a diet that included meat?
by Chemical Emotions ini've researched this extensively, but i'm interested in people's opinions and experiences.. .
i...am considering becoming a vegan, or at least a vegetarian..

I've been mostly vegan since mid January. What I mean by mostly is that I had a little milk in my tea or coffee maybe four or five times in the last six month. Oh and cream cheese on a bagel twice. Anyway I do feel better and I lost some extra pounds. One thing I notice is that my attitude is a lot better. For whever reason I'm a lot happier. I really don't miss eating meat. Last year while my wife was at her assembly in Utah I lived on bacon, hamburgers, hotdogs and steaks. This year was quite a change from years past but I ate well without meat. I'm really enjoying the change. It is kind of an adventure.

"Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola" The Kinks, LolaI reall don't know. It is a pretty complex subject. If you were a woman who was traped in a mans body or the other way around that in itself could give you mental problems. The mental problems could be a side effect of what you were going through.
A big percentage of what we view as male or female has nothing to do with our physical bodies or any biology it is more cultural and what we have been taught is male or female. To me I really don't care about things like that. There are good people who are worth knowing and then there are the dicks. I don't care about weight, size, color, if they are gay straight if they are nice people then we should give them the respect and friend ship they deserve and we should stand up to anyone gives them a bad time.
